This is an experimental site
Ida is a server-pushed animation stream (and is used to test software to migrate to our main server)

The server is finally running Tenon WebTen Apache and Rearden Tech SiteCam. The image streaming video frames are updated as often as your connection will allow, up to 0.6 frames per second with a 28.8 modem, depending on the throughput.
MSIE for Windows does NOT supports streaming images (get real, get a Mac :-)
Regarding the throughput everybody talks about 3 to 15 frames per second with a 28.8 modem, I have never seen that and I do not believe it is possible. with WebTen and SiteCam I get 0.6 fps on a direct connection without any bottleneck. The old WebCam 1.4 gives 0.5 fps (emulated) and the strange beast WebCam Turbo almost 1.1 fps. A normal throughput from US to Sweden from Rearden Techs WebCam stops at 0.3 fps (on a 128Kb/s connection).
Status report of the 98-03-26 (03/26/98) It's working! Some problems with the port that solved it self when we moved the server to a dedicated machine. The camera is still running emulated for a few days. This IP will be Idas and with some luck it soon will become the domain Ida.web server!
Status report of the 98-03-28 (03/28/98) It's finally a Tenon and SiteCam server. All PPC code and OT1.3!
Status report of the 98-03-29 (03/29/98) All new layout, let's frame! (Under heavy reconstruction)
Status report of the 98-04-01 (04/01/98) Upgraded the server to 90MB RAM and a 256L2, seems to be slightly faster. Also experimenting with OT stack versus WebTen stack.
Status report of the 98-04-03 (04/03/98) The image transfered is now 453 x 340 instead of 320 x 240. Fixed; If the picture is all white or black (under or over exposure) , wait for some pictures (4-6) to transfer, and the exposure settings will have time to adjust.
Status report of the 98-04-06 (04/06/98) Changed 'Ida history' to show continuously updated stills and moved the 'Ida history' to Ida update. Ida history should now reload every 30 minutes, hopefully you won't get an old page anymore. Bird watcher counter added.
Status report of the 98-04-12 (04/12/98) All reorganized again. Lots of internal changes and fixes.
Status report of the 98-11-22 (11/22/98) Long time since last... Two cameras has been manual alternated for some time. But now the incredible Rearden company has released 3.0 beta of SiteCam. Looks great and gives a optional 'close-up'! It may even be a little bit faster?
Status report of the 98-12-31 (12/31/98) Wow, have I been working hard? Ida is now on Tenon Stack (which also mean that the server is used more than ever to test software and procedures before they are moved to Big Mama (e.g. frequently down sometimes). Ida also has a brand new (long awaited) guest book.
Status report of the 99-01-05 (01/05/99) The statistic link is now up and working. It updates every hour and will probably fill every need. Look at Japan, do Ida have supporter(s) there or what?
Status report of the 99-10-26 (10/26/99) The fan in the power supply stopped and the power supply where overheated and did shut down the Ida server for a week. Ida finally got her own domain; IdaTV.com!
Status report of the 99-11-02 (11/01/99) I have had some problem with the speed of the server. I tried to install a IBM 18GB drive but could NO way make it boot. Updated to SiteCam 4.1.4 and increased the picture quality. Some adjustment re-distrubuting the CPU power and some new algorithm for the SANE lib (QT). Also, now if you click on the streaming video you will get a large view (and hopefully the server will cope).
Status report of the 99-12-09 (12/09/99) Installed NetCloak 3.03 Pro plug-in that replaces the NetForm CGI to handle the guest book and mail form, this added the ability to show a text counter and time. Other fun implementations will come. (I am figuring out how to make QT short-movies detected by motion and if the server will handle the stress.)
Status report of the 99-12-17 (12/17/99) Upgraded the now heavily taxed old 6100 from 601 75Mhz to G3 210Mhz with a NewerTech accelerator. At least four times the speed. I hope it will show in the stream.
Status report of the 00-07-04 (07/04/00) The move of the Ida resident is finished and some adjustments to the server has been done (one last move remain and will be done this winter to a beautiful place! I plan to place one camera INSIDE the cave!). We have also switched supplier from Tele2 ($$$) to the very service minded people at MCI Worldcom what a different! The server are also now controlled by a Maccoach device to increase the up-time (as all other servers now is Power Key Pro controlled.
