How to install ARA 2.0.1 on System Update 2.0

You are forced to work in a very tedious way when working with ARA Client or ARA Personal server; first install 7.5x, then install ARA and finally do the System 2.0 Update.

If you do an installation of ARA on 7.5.3 you will in best case end up with a system that has the wrong AppleTalk version and you are forced to reinstall OT 1.1 - kind of a mess.

An easier way is to use ResEdit or Resorcerer to move the resources that the system need. What we do has not been scaled down to 'minimum' resources in the right place. We simply move all of them, and it works for us.

We assume that you already have collected all the extensions and control panels involved in ARA either from the original diskettes or from your earlier system.

With ResEdit or Resorcerer copy the following resources from the 'Remote Access Resources' in 'Remote Access Files' on 'ARA Client Install 2' or 'ARA PS Install 2' diskette;

Paste the resources in to the System file and System Update 2.0.

We have not confirmed that the Serial Port Arbitrator works with the new DMA in 7.5.3.
